How saving works
- Paste a link — or use Chrome. Add a URL, or archive the page you’re on with the Chrome extension.
- VaultShelf captures it. When capture succeeds, we store a readable HTML snapshot plus the title, URL, domain, and capture date.
- Find it anytime. Search titles, tags, and page text — then open the archived copy.
When capture succeeds, VaultShelf stores the title, original URL, source domain, capture date, and a readable HTML snapshot with searchable text. It is not a perfect offline clone of every site.

- How is VaultShelf different from bookmarks?
- A bookmark stores a URL. When capture succeeds, VaultShelf stores a readable HTML snapshot plus title, URL, domain, and capture date, so you can open and search the content if the live page changes or disappears.
- What exactly does VaultShelf preserve?
- Typically: page title, original URL, source domain, capture date, a readable HTML snapshot, and searchable extracted text. Tags and AI summaries may be added when available.
- What pages work best, and what are the limits?
- Public articles, documentation, and similar pages work best. Login-walled pages, heavy JavaScript apps, and paywalls are unreliable unless captured via the Chrome extension while logged in.
- What happens if the original page disappears?
- If we captured a snapshot, you can still open that archived copy from your vault.
- Is my vault private?
- Yes. Your vault is personal; other users cannot access it. We do not sell your data.
- Can I search inside saved pages?
- Yes. Search covers titles, tags, and the extracted text of archived pages.
- Can I export my archive?
- Yes. From Settings: JSON (items, collections, tags, notes) or CSV (item metadata).
- What happens if I cancel or delete my account?
- Deleting your account from Settings removes your library data and associated media. Exports are how you take a copy with you.
